Positano

Positano, Amalfi Coast, Italy

Brendan and I got to Positano on Thursday and left on Sunday, so it was a shorter stay compared to the other cities, but we really enjoyed it nonetheless. Praiano was a great way to start our trip because it was a small and quaint town, but we were excited when we got to Positano because there was a lot to do and it was much more populated. When you see pictures of the Amalfi Coast, Positano is probably what you have seen. It’s the town with houses all down the side of a cliff, with stunning views and the water right below.

Some fun highlights:

  • Our boat day, which included swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, limoncello on the boat, meeting three other couples who were also on their honeymoons, and soaking up the sunshine! We got to go into the famous Emerald Grotto and see the beautiful St. Andrew’s Cathedral in the town of Amalfi.
  • Shopping for gifts for ourselves and other people! The shopping in Positano is amazing. Brendan was not so into it, but I was all about it. I bought a beautiful leather briefcase for my new job, which I am starting on November 2nd. Brendan bought leather work shoes with a tennis shoe bottom (very comfortable!), and we bought gifts for a number of people and decor for our home. One of my favorite home decor items was a custom lava rock (similar to ceramic) plaque that says “Casa Walsh.” It will be hand-painted and shipped to us in a few weeks.
  • Surprisingly, up to this point in the trip, we hadn’t had carbonara (we’re both obsessed with it), so naturally, we had it two nights in a row. It was exactly as good as we remembered. We were dipping bread in the sauce until the plates were clean.
  • I forced Brendan to do a couples massage with me, and he actually ended up liking it! It was very relaxing and super nice to do after the long travel days we’d had.
  • On our last night in Positano, we went to a famous nightclub called Music on the Rocks. It’s inside a cave and is the only nightclub in Positano, so it attracts a lot of tourists. The club is very cool inside, but unfortunately, we were so tired that it was hard to get in the mood for deafeningly loud music and super drunk people. After about an hour, we decided that was plenty and went home, lol.

The first half of our trip was so relaxing and beachy, but we knew Rome was going to be a lot more full with walking, sight-seeing, and praying. Brendan and I were sad to leave the coast, but we were excited for the change of pace— it was really cool to experience both types of cities in the same trip!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for some once-in-a-lifetime experiences we had in Roma! Enjoy some pictures below 🙂

Our view from the pool at our hotel
Our boat tour guide Carlo showing us the Amalfi Coast flag
Got yelled at for eating on the stairs so we had to eat our pizza standing in the middle of crowd🤷🏻‍♀️
Carlo driving with his foot
Cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle in Amalfi
Champagne on our boat day!
Emerald Cove was beautiful. When the sunlight hits the sand at the bottom of the cave under the water and reflects into the cave, it becomes an emerald color.
Carbonara😍
The beautiful alleys (but lowkey a million stairs) of Positano. On our way home from our couples massage
Music on the Rocks
Fun and lit but definitely don’t come here if you have epilepsy
Beautiful depiction St. Peter
Another highlight for us in Italy was the free bread they gave us at dinner every night with olive oil and basalmic vinegar. It hit everytime
